THE GREAT WHODUKNIT ARAN CHARITY BLANKET
I'm excited about this - so let's get started! Here's how it will work.
If you want to participate, you will need to knit one, or more, 12" squares which will eventually be sewn together into a blanket and given to a charity (yet to be determined). Squares should be made from a washable worsted weight yarn (Woolease is a good one) in any shade of green. The squares can be anything from an intricate aran pattern, to a simple moss, or even garter stitch pattern, whatever your skill level and time constraints allow. What a great way to try out new patterns, use up some stash, and do something for charity too! There are some great aran patterns here and here.
If you want to be part of "The Great Whoduknit Aran Charity Blanket KAL" leave a comment on this post, along with your suggestion for a charity. When your squares are finished, post a picture and send me an e-mail (grammieknits@yahoo.com) and I will let you know where to send them.
And, oh yes, there will be prizes! Everyone who sends a square will receive a beaded bookmark. Other prizes will be awarded for the first square sent, the most squares sent and a random drawing of all the squares sent. (Don't get too excited though, this is a low budget operation LOl).
Are you in???????

I'm in . . . I'm in . . . I'm in.
Oh, repeating this three times does not mean that I will do three squares.
My suggestion for donation site would be for the person who has to sew this baby together should get to decide where it gets donated!
I'm in - Yar!
Yes, I'm in too. I have printed out the patterns and I will dig through my stash of Woolese later. I just love this kind of project. I have the March book already, too, and I am going to try and be a more active member of the group.
I'm stopping at Joann's on my way home to see what shades of green they have in Woolese. I know they have it on sale online but, I really want to "see" the colors and it is just easier to stop and buy.
I'm in, can I use the Plymouth washable wool in my stash? It is forest green.
I'm in. Depending on the number of squares, we could proably do a number of blankets. Here are the dimensions from the project Linus site. Sizes are approximate:
Preemie Blanket Size - 24" x 30"
Newborn Baby Blanket Size - 36" x 36"
Toddler/Child Blanket Size - 36" x 45"
Child/Teen Size Blanket - 40" x 60"
Jane, Do you want volunteers for putting squares together?
Just to check we need worsted weight right? Also when is the deadline? Mid-April?
I'm in too! I don't think I have any suitable green in my stash so thanks for enabling me to buy more yarn!
