Who Killed Meredith Bay? Solution

Solution: James Moorland said that he had to wipe the frost on the window in order to see inside. Frost forms on the inside of the window, not the outside.

It's those little details that will trip you up every time! The winner this week is Patt!

Meredith Bay was found dead in her study by Mr. Moorland. The sweater she was knitting for her friend James Moorland lay on the floor covered with blood. Mr. Moorland recounted his dismal discovery to Lt. Hugh Dunnit. "I was walking by Miss Bay's house when I thought I would just pop in for a visit. I knew that she was knitting a sweater for me and I wanted to see how it was coming along. I noticed her study light was on and I decided to peek in from the outside to see if she was in there knitting. There was frost on the window, so I had to wipe it away to see inside. That is when I saw her body. So I kicked in the front door to confirm my suspicions of foul play. I called the police immediately afterward." Lt. Dunnit immediately arrested Mr.Moorland for the murder of Miss Bay. How did he know Mr. Moorland was lying?

Demolition

I recently joined holidaymysterygifts and think it is a pretty cool group to belong to. I enjoy knitting, have been knitting for 47 years. I have been kind of busy on the homefront. Our house is 178 years old and beyond repair so we are going to demolish it and put up a modular home. We have been very busy trying to empty the old house and make room for the new! I am a school crossing guard so I can knit while I am waiting for the kids to come...after we are all settled in the new house I will knit there as well.

Plains Crazy Project

The book Plains Crazy was a little too chaotic for me but I read the whole book. I loved the ending too.

So I saw the sock project on the blog made from maize and I just thought I'd send in my sock photo. It's not made with corn or bamboo or anything like that. I just thought these tiny socks were plain crazy! lol

I am posting my Plains Crazy project. Since Judy English may have to have chemo when she returns from Paris she will be needing a hat as we all know what happens when someone has chemo. So I knit her a hat with a long eyelash that looks like hair. Another new hair style for her.

Yep. I had to dig through the files for this puppy. With MS4 taking all my time...I had to get mentally creative. Here's my link. The yarn used on the RPM sock (from Knitty.com) is Maizy from Crystal Palace. It's partially make with corn husks. DD says they are great. RPM - speeding away to the airport. The red and black remind me of the acme TNT on Road Runner.

Now, if I had TIME on my side, I was going to do something like the waving wheat dishcloth. I went to college in Kansas, and waving the wheat is something I LOVE to do!

Who Killed Margaret? Solution

Solution: Yup, it was the milkman. There was a newspaper on the porch but no milk bottle because the milkman knew she was dead and did not realize that the sheriff would wait so long to investigate the murder. And the winner in the random drawing this week is.....Holly! Congratulations Holly!

Lt. Dunnit is back with a new murder mystery to solve, and as usual, he needs your help!

Margaret Stove was a recluse who had been stabbed to death two days ago with the very Addie Turbo knitting needles she was using to knit her Mystery Stole. The town sheriff had received an anonymous call at 4 a.m. the day before that she had been murdered, but thought it was just another prank and confessed to Lt. Hugh Dunnit that he didn't investigate it until the next day. He told Lt. Dunnit that Margaret lived alone and never went out of the house. She spent most of her days knitting and her social life revolved around her internet knitting groups. She had been the butt of every practical joke in the book, including the death report, a dozen times.
The sheriff took Lt. Dunnit to Margaret's house and explained, as they stood on the porch that aside from a daily milk and newspaper delivery, the only visitors who saw her regularly were the grocery boy and her doctor, and both were due tomorrow. Lt. Dunnit could see why. The driveway to the house was overgrown and impassable and deliveries obviously had to be made on foot. Dunnit sat down on a rocking chair, the only object on the sagging porch except for two unopened newspapers. "Who was the last person to see Ms. Stove alive?" he asked. "Probably Kara Bella."" the sheriff said. Early on the day of Margaret's death she was driving by and noticed the old lady come out on the porch to take in her bottle of milk." Margaret Stove was supposed to have fifty thousand dollars hidden someplace. We can't find it, or any clues.
"Except for the anonymous telephone call," said Lt. Dunnit. "The murderer never figured you wouldn't investigate within the hour!"

Summer Swap!!

Look what Aunt Kathy sent me for the Yard Sale Swap!
See the two Diane Mott Davidson books? Each one came with something that tied into the book...pancake mix for "Killer Pancake" and Poppyseed Muffin Mix for "The Last Supper".
And see the cook book cover? Aunt Kathy made it for me! She said that the pattern is on her blog....She sent me a lovely Grandmother bookmark with pin (and the pin has a green stone - my favorite!).

Plains Crazy Clapotis

When Judy finally got to Paris she was wearing her hand-knit Clapotis, the style inspired by Paris but the colors reminiscent of the wide open spaces and blue skies of the Plains.

DEAD SLEEP PROJECT

I finally finished my Dead Sleep Project. Sleeping or dead woman, tubs. I took some artistic liberties with this one. I found a photo of my furtoddler Solara sitting in the sink. Then I asked my girlfriend to pixelate it for me. Then the big task to try to knit it. Please don't laugh when you look at the photo. I took the photo while it was being blocked on my striped chair. Maybe I will make it into a pillow. The pink blob is her nose and was knit with cotton yarn. The rest of her was knit with Cascade 220. I found some shiny silver ribbon yarn for the faucet. Solara is a tabby tortie with white. You can see from the photo the white of her belly. That part of her I knit with some fuzzy yarn. I guess I got a little crazed when I was knitting her paw by her belly which you can see from the photo doesn't look so funny. Her other paw is on the edge of the sink to the left of her head. All her paws are white and her eyes are green.
This is what I tried to knit from but sometimes I knit and didn't check what I was doing so some areas of her look funny.

Dead Sleep Project

My project is a soap sack and matching washcloth for Jordan and her new love (if they ever get to finish their rendevous in the shower, LOL). I still need to make the I-cord for the sack and the camera batteries went into their own dead sleep after the one pic, so no washcloth to view. I think next time I would use a solid color - although I like the way this colorway made a kind of visual ripple effect (and the colors remind me of Good & Plenty candy!), I think the eyelets on the sack would show up better on a solid. ~ Valerie K

Mystery Project recieved

I recieved a huge box in the mail today from Karen V who is either #1 an overachiever or #2 as guilt laden (which is not necessary at all!) as she says she is!
So here is what she knit for me from my yarn. Unfortunately is is about 105 degrees outside and we do not have air conditioning so I have not been able to try them on! The clapotis scarf and my very own pair of mitts!!!!!! YAY!!!! I have been wanting both - but have not taken the time to knit either one for myself!

And look at these books! Perfect timing for the lace shawls because a friend of mine recently became engaged and I really want to make something special for her and have been looking for a special shawl to make! So cant wait to look thru this book later tonight. And yes, Karen wrapped each item seperately in tissue paper and stuck a little K note on each! The books looks great - have read both authors and enjoy their writing so am looking forward to reading these!

And here is a lovely bunch of things....special salt and hot chocolate (good thing - regular chocolate would probably have melted and evaporated! Just the things I need right now - line post its to help follow patterns and some perfect sized stitch markers for sock knitting! A new Chibi set - a tin of mints which will eventually hold the markers -- a great calculator and a wonderful timer (do I really want to know how much time I spend knitting? But I can put it by my chair when I am cooking so I no longer have to say - oops! I didint hear the timer go off!!!)

And looky! My very own sock blocker key chain complete with sockie on it! Again, have used these for gifts but never made myself one!!

I have been SO WONDERFULLY spoiled - thank you so much!! And the fun thing is - Monday is my anniversary so it is fun to recieve presents this weekend! Karen, thank you very very VERY much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here it is, my long awaited (yeah, I'm sure you were all just holding your breath until you were blue HA!) Dead Sleep project. I hand dyed the yarn.......two things came to mind....the impressionist painting Starry Night and Roger's Clearing. The lace panel is directly from the impresionst sock pattern on Ravelry(and the link takes you to the blog where it was found, so Ravelry membership is *NOT* required. When and if I pull my self together, I'll go link all that stuff, but if I were you, I'd just keep on breathing. I'm blogging for the first time off of flickr. I think I'm going to like it, but I sure miss the add a link function. We'll see. I slept in LATE today, I might have all night, but my mind is spinning with all the possibilities!

At any rate....sweet dreems!

Dead Sleep Project

I had a few ideas for this book. I thought about a felted bathtub with a needlefelted naked girl in it - yeah, right! But settled on this project which took about all of 15 minutes.

I cut out the pallet from a felted project gone wrong and then needlefelted the paint.

Greg Iles has gone on my list of favorite authors!

Dead Sleep Project

I made two items for Dead Sleep. I knitted a Pop-Tart camera case and a chocolate bunny. I know Jordan found Pop-Tarts and Twinkies for junk food, but I figured chocolate counted! More info can be found on my blog, here, and on my Ravelry project pages.

Picture, finally

Now that I have managed to a) find the proper cord and b) get back to my office, I can finally show off the beautiful scarf Mary Lynn made for me out of the skein of Claudia Hand Paint yarn I sent her for our swap. Isn't it pretty?? It's about a gajillion degrees outside today in Sacramento, but I'm looking ofrward to wearing my new scarf when the weather cools!
